A reflection on social control and governance, authority
According to, Glunlan and Mayers each society has social mechanisms for social control and no society can exist without social mechanisms for social control. In many societies, there is a government for the maintenance of the social control and communical decision making.
For every government, there is authority given to the leaders by God in order to govern his people. Authority makes it inevitable to develop norms that define the responsibilities and roles of both the leaders and the citizens.
In any given society, a government whether formal or informal is established to run the affairs of the society on the behalf of the people. Government may define as exercising control and power over the people. We can cite at least four reasons why government is important: to promote justice, peace, control of finance and defense maintenance.
However, the Bible is very practical and Paul in Romans 13:1-7 tells people how they should behave towards the authority. The common citizen is argued to pay taxes and to be submissive to the existing government in power as well as not to oppose it. The leaders are supposed to be paid for the work they perform and also to serve people well as God require of them. If only these two groups work responsibly with one another the country will develop a lot economically, socially and politically. Besides that, peace and cooperation is maintained therefore a conducive environment for development, learning among other day to activities.
